SUDAN

Sudan dyes are red colouring agents used in a variety of household products, including waxes, and shoe and floor polishes. None of these are products that you would particularly want to eat, which is fortunate because Sudan dyes are carcinogens that have been linked to the development of cancer in laboratory animals. Unfortunately, however, these dyes have recently stared turning up in certain food product.

Sudan dyes present in food sample require analytical techniques using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Our laboratory is readied and equipped to carry out Sudan I, II, III and IV on this purpose.
